BumGenius 3.0 One-Sized Cloth DiaperI have heard so much about the BumGenius diapers so getting the opportunity to review one from Simple Wonders Diapers was great. This diaper definitely exceeded what I had expected from a Velcro diaper. So far this is the closest I've come to using a cloth diaper that's very similar to a disposable.
Right now I'm using this diaper on the medium setting and it doesn't seem to be bulking up all that much and fits well. The stretch tabs are very convenient and even though I'm not thrilled with how they tab down for laundry use (because that's next to your babies skin during wear) it hasn't caused a problem in this house. The tabs actually stay completely down and we've had no curling so far and these seem to be very strong and smaller that my daughter has a harder time getting it off than other velcro diapers. The covered insert opening is a nice feature but doesn't stay completely flat and ends
up needing to be readjusted before your finished putting in on your child. I love how the top (where the velcro sticks) is nice and wide, to easily fit around your child's waist, this helps with fit and keeps the diaper where you want it. This also is a trim diaper and doesn't look that bulky if used with the inserts. Once again I'm not a big fan of the microterry fiber inserts, they hold the liquid and give you a trim fit, but I'm more of a prefold girl myself. This diaper does come with an infant inserts as well though for a trim look as an infant and then you can use this as a second insert with the bigger one for more absorbency as the child gets older. I haven't had one leak and have actually been using this at night with a prefold for reviewing, working great. It's pretty similar to most pocket diapers. So far from my use this is a highly recommendable diaper. Be sure to check out the nine available colors as well! Read more about this diaper here.

I'd love to try this diaper because I have a Bumgenius AIO and it's the only microfiber diaper I haven't gotten the horrible awful stink with. Perhaps I should replace my others with more of these if the 3.0 is as good as the AIO!

I would like to try it because like you said, "it's the closest to a disposable."
ReplyDeleteBeing new to CD's, I don't know what I am going to like/dislike.

I'm really trying hard to convince my husband jump on the bandwagon with cloth diapers. I knew they saved money in the long run (though the initial cost seems to be more) but after I saw the cost comparison on their website it's a no-brainer. So for me, I'd like to try them for hte cost savings and anything that more closely resembles a disposable will be a better selling point for my hubby.

ReplyDeleteI would love to try this diaper - I've heard amazing things about the bumgenius line of diapers. we currently use trifold with the separate covers, I would love the streamlined look and feel of these! Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try this because it is a one size diaper. No more buying different sizes. I also like that it is trim and like a disposable.

ReplyDeleteI would love to try these. I currently do cloth diapers the old fashioned way, with pins and vinyl covers.

Like others here... I am interested in trying cloth diapers, but hubby isn't so sure. Certainly something that works more like a disposable would be great.
ReplyDeleteAnd "free" would be a good trial opportunity for us.
thanks~
I'd like to try this because I think my husband would be more comfortable with it than with others since it is like a sposie.
ReplyDeleteThanks a bunch!
Frankly, I dispute their savings numbers. You don't walk into a store, look at the most expensive brand and most expensive way to buy that brand (Diapers are MUCH cheaper to buy jumbos, on sale, with a coupon--and the supermarkets tend to be more expensive than Target, Wal-mart, Costco, etc. And Target brand disposables (what I was using) were even cheaper -- Plus they didn't say what size the Huggies were. At .31 cents/diaper, I suspect it was a larger size, by which point one is NOT doing 10 diaper changes a day!) and then compare your product's cost to that. Cloth diapers (if they last for multiple years and one doesn't go overboard purchasing) legitimately save money without going to that length.
ReplyDelete*cranky* Take a peek over at BabyCheapskate sometimes. She's got more realistic numbers of what it really costs to put one child through disposables. I think we could have done it cheaper because even BabyCheapskate assumes you use premium brands. But her number--as someone who searches out the sales, etc-- was about $1600
Why I am interested in BumGenius, despite this (and despite the fact it is velcro--not my favorite?) Because it is the Gold Standard of cloth diapers. Everyone (it seems) knows what a BG is/has used BG at some point. Most folk rave about their BGs (even if they go on to use other stuff)
ReplyDeleteIt would be neat to use one just to say I've done it and be able to converse knowledgeably about it!
I already have a few BG 3.0, but I'd love to have another. They work well...even fitting my son when he was about 5 weeks old! I subscribe as well
ReplyDeleteI want to try it because I am getting too lazy for my prefolds since I had to go back to work. *blush*

ReplyDeleteim amazed. how cool is this. we are trying to conceive and i know this would come in handy. i love all the colors and i am disturbed to know that the product that was banned from tampons is still used in diapers, how wrong is that. horrrible. well, i hope i can win this. i could never go back to disposable now.

I'm a huge fan of one-size cloth diapers and would love to try out a bum genius one size diaper!! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI've got your button on my blog!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try this diaper mainly because everyone talks about BG's and I don't have any. I would love to try it out. Also the webside says it has Grippier hook and loop closure ensuring your bumGenius tabs stay where you put them. Well the belcro one size pockets I have are not holding well. One side always releases and it is frustrating. I would like to see if these work better.

I'd love to win this diaper. I'm due in March and I'm determined to use cloth. I'm making my own so far but winning one of these would probably spoil me into buying them. haha

I use cloth diapers, but sadly dont have a BG. almost everyone I know has had one and loved them. I love the fact that they grow with her and would love the chance to have one!
ReplyDeleteI want to try this diaper because I was ROYALLY disappointed in the 2.0 version and I want to see if the improvements are worth it!

ReplyDeleteI would like to try Bumgenius because it is one of the brands I didn't purchase in my initial supply. I've heard good things about them and would like to try them myself! Thanks for the great contest!
ReplyDeleteI would like to use Bum Genius for 2 reasons. 1) i have a friend who uses them for her son and loves them. 2) one size means not having to buy more diapers
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try this diaper because I'm new to the CD world and have heard so much about Bumgenius and how closely it resembles the ease of use of a disposable. Also the fact that it is one size is a huge too because it saves even more money than if I were to buy multiple sized cloth diapers!

ReplyDeleteI love the velcro adjustable closures on these and that they'll last him until he's a toddler. The velcro is huge, because that way you can adjust the closure to ensure a snug fit!

Aaannnnd I want this dipe because I have 2 bG AIOs, but they are sized. I want a one-size one because one sizes are more economical. Plus, I love the color. Additionally, bGs are my SO's favorite dipe to put on our LO.
ReplyDeleteThey are easy LOL
I would like to try these because everyone is always raving about them and because it is an AIO so I wouldn't have to worry about assembling it.
ReplyDeleteI have your button.
ReplyDeleteOh My Gosh I cannot believe that I almost missed this one!!
ReplyDeleteThis is the brand of cloth diaper that I use and I love them. No one has a problem using them that would normally have a problem with cloth diapers.
This is the most popular brand of cloth diapers around and would definitely want to get one. I've used disposables on my past 2 children so this would be a definitely switch to go to CD without too much of a sacrifice.

I'd really like to try cloth diapering with my little one but I'm not sure what will work best for us, so I'd like to win this to try it out. I don't want to put those disposable diapers with their chemicals on my baby's skin.
ReplyDeleteWe have discussed cloth diapering our little one but we aren't sure its for us. I would love to be able to try it out before we invest a lot of money into it. I love that we can also use them for baby #2 when the time comes.

Thanks for this post...I've always wanted to try this diaper with my daughter but never did...and now that I'm getting ready for another little one on the way I'm trying to get a variety of diapers and I've heard great things about this diaper...plus my hubby would like the velcro more than the snaps...he hated the snaps.
ReplyDeleteThanks again and I added your icon to my blog as well as subscribed to your blog...thanks again for sharing!!

ReplyDeleteI would love to try this diaper to see how they've improved it over the 2.0 version, which is what I am using now.

ReplyDeleteI want to try this one because the 3.0's can be washed on hot and dried in the dryer. And the fabric is divine!
This is by far the best night time diaper I've ever tried.
