Being a parent you must realize that you are your child's first teacher and need to be a very good one at that. They learn from example and we need to do our best, everyday to teach them what's best. I've been thrilled to review for The Little Environmentalists and two of her books in the series to help teach my children how to conserve and get a little more greener in our world today. The newest book, Go Green With Me is excellent just as the other two. Showing through excellent illustrations how they can help the earth, and in very simple terms that are great for your younger child. These books not only teach your younger ones, but give - Did you know? facts that my husband I both learned from. My son has learned a lot about turning off the water while brushing your teeth - a good reminder for me as well and turning off lights when leaving the room. He's all set to build a worm farm for composting as well, all learned from the new book, Go Green With Me.
The other books in the series are excellent. I'm Turning Green is probably one that gets quoted a lot around here - "mom am I turning green?" - "mom I turned off the lights, my arms are green now." Brings a smile to my face every time. I have yet to read, In My Backyard but it took looks great. They aren't all that expensive either. Check out the website, where you can purchase them for $5 each online.
Check out The LIttle Environmentalist online and see how they are Changing the World, One Child at a time.

We're doubling the size of our veggie garden this year and will have an area just for our girls to work in that won't be too tragic if they tear things out of the ground so they will feel more involved and my big girl is now old enough to actually learn how to really do things not just play.

My munchkin is still on the way, but I've converted my nanny charge to using a stainless steel water bottle and refilling it from the water fountain. He thinks he's so cool now!!

We are going to start using cloth shopping bags! I recently got some cute ones at Target and in the dollar section they had these mini ones. I got one for my daughter so next time we go grocery shopping, she can put her things in her little bag. Love it!

ReplyDeleteI'm a grandmother now but we have the grandchildren we have them recycle with us. Our neighborhood is somewhat country and we gather cans and plastic on our walks to add to our personal recycling. Thanks for having the wonderful giveaway.
ReplyDeleteOur grandchildren would love the book.

This is an excellent post. There are other simple things that almost anyone can do to be more green and conserve energy, like installing Programmable Thermostats that can adjust the temperature automatically for times when it is not needed, or installing a ceiling fan like I found from Fanimation Fans, or cleaning or replacing their Furnace Filter or Humidifier Filters with something like Aprilaire Furnace Filters that are more energy efficient. Just some ideas that might help the cause.
