Vincent Shoes - Review & Giveaway! *update* (CLOSED)

Having a little bit of a shoe obsession for my little girls feet (and hopefully for my son now that he can start wearing regular shoes) I was excited to view Vincent Shoes selection of shoes for children and babies.

With summer and sandal weather pretty much here (on a good day) I was happy to receive an adorable pair of Lisa's shoes for my daughter to try. The quality of these shoes is very well from what I've been able to tell. Thought a tad bit big yet for my daughter, we've still had them on (because we change shoes like clothing here - far to many times a day) and they look very cute. I love how a pair of sandals can be dressed up or down depending on the outfit and looks great. I like the closed back on these shoes as well for extra support while walking - even though my daughter has been walking for sometime, I still like her to have support and stability. The Velcro closure is very nice too - easy to adjust and put on and off. This particular shoe comes in four different colors with a cute little butterfly on the front. I'm very happy with the summer sandals from Vincent for my little girl.

Vincent shoes has great fun and fashionable shoes for your kids with a great variety. I really think the selection of rain boots is great - I just love rain boots and there are so many! There's a good selection for boys as well and lots for girls and babies. Vincent shoes also has a size chart so you are able to get the correct fit while ordering online. I think that they are very generous in the sizing (and it does state this on some of the pages) so beware of this while ordering. If you're on the look out for kids shoes, baby shoes, toddler shoes, etc. Check out what Vincent Shoes has to offer and their closeout section. On the side of the homepage you are able to view the shoes by boys, girls, prewalkers, model, color, occasion - makes it very helpful!

Mama Pad - Review & Giveaway! (CLOSED)

"Isn't that a little personal?" asked my husband when I said I was going to be reviewing a cloth menstrual pad. But how else can people find out about great, non-mainstream products?? And the Stackable Mama Pads from Knickernappies really is a great product! Personally, I cannot stand pads. Hate the sweaty feeling. Hate the crunchy sound. Hate the flowery smell. Hate that I am contributing to a landfill. Hate that I'm shelling out money for something that's going in the trash after just a couple hours use. Hate that they shift around and leak if you are very active. Unfortunately, there are times when pads are a mama's only option. However, disposable is NOT the only option!

Stackable Mama Pads from Knickernappies are cloth menstrual pads that eliminate all those worries you have about pads! These are made of soft, thin, waterproof fleece and are not sweaty, crunchy or smelly in any way! "Stackable Mama Pads are a unique 3-in-1 system that will allow you to adjust absorbency throughout your menstrual cycle without having to buy several sizes of pads. One Stackable pad can be a pantyliner, regular pad, and heavy pad." Being a cloth diapering mama, I was expecting some extra bulk, however, these were very comfortable. It is thick enough that you do know it's there but it wasn't detectable even under jeans and never felt bulky even at the thickest setting. I had no issues with any leaking and even the outer shell stayed clean and in place. These were super easy to wash. You just rinse them in cold water to prevent staining and then run a hot wash. If you cloth diaper, these can just be tossed right in with a load of diapers. Knickernappies Stackable Mama Pads are definitely the way to go to feel fresh and comfortable! They are also a great value and environmentally friendly. I'll never buy disposable pads again!

Buy It! Finding yourself wanting to give the Stackable Mama Pads a try? These are available at The Cloth Diaper Outlet, use Coupon Code FlipFlops2 and get 5% off your entire purchase.

Win It! One Momma in Flip Flops2 reader will win one complete pad set (shell, two pads) and one extra set from Knickernappies and The Cloth Diaper Outlet. To Enter.
*Visit The Cloth Diaper Outlet and tell me something interesting you found from the site that you'd like to know more about and/or why you'd like to try the Mama Pads.

Customized Girl - Review & Giveaway! (CLOSED)

Do you ever know the exact saying you want on a shirt, just to go shopping and never ever find it? It makes me sad whenever something like that happens. Well you don't have to worry about that anymore because Customized Girl has just what you're looking for - because you get to design it!

I was able to review the Bella Sheer Racerback long tank top! It was super fun to design a shirt to fit my style and show off my growing belly. This shirt is made for maternity or non-pregnant woman and being six months pregnant myself it fit me great. It's more a junior sized long tank, so I got mine in an xl and have plenty of growing room, yet fits perfect now as well. The letters and feet were exactly where I designed them to be and even after several washes have yet to peel. The shirt is super comfortable and I think it looks darn good.

CustomizedGirl has things for woman, men, youth, accessories all for your own designs. Maybe you don't think you're creative enough to design one yourself (you know you are...) well, there are lots of already designed items as well. Check out the gallery to see what lots of other CustomizedGirl users are designing as well. Designing is easy and fun - you get to pick the wording, the arch, the font, sizing, pictures, up load your own images, use rhinestones, change the wording color, etc! There is so much you can design and make - something for everyone's unique style. I like too how you can have the same saying on several different styles of clothing. Make shirts for the newly weds, the dad to be, the mommy to be, and much more.

Buy It! Ready to design something for yourself, friend, family member, child, etc? Use coupon code BLOG10 and save 10% on your purchase. Check out the sale section and what kind of deals are running on the homepage.

Win It! One Momma In Flip Flops2 reader will win a $25 gift certificate to spend your own customized design. To Enter (please pay close attention).

*You must log on to CustomizedGirl.com, choose a product and create a design, then save it. Tag it under mommainflipflops and be sure to share it. At the bottom of the page after you saved it and tagged it, there will be a link to this page. Copy and Paste it in your comment for an entry here! Have fun designing!!

Pretty Green Bag Sale!

Some of you may remember the review I wrote awhile back for Pretty Green Bag. I'm still loving it my bag and using it all the time for groceries. My husband actually just told me the other day that of all the reusable grocery bags we have, this is his favorite. The selection of bags is great and they all look stunning. I use my bag not only for grocery but for library books and toting around other things that are essentials with having children.

Right now Pretty Green Bag is running a big sale on several of their bags. Now through Mother's Day weekend. These bags are Eco-Friendly and many Organic. You can check it out here. Happy shopping. I'd love to know if you get one and which you choose. So hard to decide, they are all lovely.

Slanket - Review!

You know, who hasn't heard of the kind of dorky big blanket/wrap that you get into to keep yourself warm? Well maybe you haven't, but it's the talk of the town it seems like. Okay, maybe not the town, but you get the drift. It seemed to be a big topic of conversation for our family a couple months back. Everyone was making fun of it - well not anymore. If you're a cold person - you are going to love the Slanket!

Being that my sister wanted to try the Slanket out so very badly, I decided to let her have a whirl at it and she wanted to write up what she thought.

"As a person who is always cold (even in the heat of summer) I was really excited to get my hands on the slanket. One of the things I really liked about this product was the quality of the fabric, I've had things made from felt like material before but this material is very thick, warm and soft. Another plus about the slanket is it's length, I am 5'6 and it goes well past my feet so I don't have that problem that I do with a lot of blankets that it only covers up your shoulders and chest or just your legs. Aside from being just a really great blanket, it has a lot of other features which I found very helpful in keeping me toasty. You can wear it with the slit in the back or the front, this is helpful depending on where you are sitting, if on the couch turn the slit to the back to keep your front nice and cozy, if sitting outside (like at a football game) you can turn the slit into the front to keep your back and front warm. It also has a lot of extra material draped loosely around the neck so you can either form a hood or a nice warm turtle neck. I would definitely recommend this product and have already gotten a lot of use from it!" Guest review by Sara.

I loved the way the Slanket felt and was actually able to sit in it comfortably and have the slit in front wraped around one of my children sitting on my lap. Having children you know that you aren't going to be in that blanket yourself - for long! The Slanket is a great gift to give, my mother in law loved it when we gave one to her and uses it daily. The Slanket comes in many different colors and now available - the Slanket for kids. I know it's getting to be summer - but that air conditioner can be a bit chilly at times!

Freckle Box - Review & Giveaway! (CLOSED)

What child doesn't love to see their name on some sort of item for them? My kids eyes light up just knowing they have personalized items that were made just for them. Freckle Box specializes in personalized gifts just for kids.

I wish I would have captured the look of excitement in my sons face when he opened the personalized fire engine poster he got and immediately wanted hanging above his bed. Each and
every night he goes - "Chief Landen" and stares up at it in amazement. It brings a smile to my face. My daughter, yet still a little young to completely understand enjoys having her Freckle box Unicorn book read to her often. Both items were a huge hit for my children and I enjoyed giving them something special that was just for them. I really liked the feature with the book that you could personalize it in the beginning as to whom it was to and from - ex. "to my little princess. love mommy and daddy."

I haven't yet seen a site that carries a wide variety of personalized products than Freckle Box. There are several great things to get as a gift - books, posters, growth charts, coloring books, puzzles and more.

eMommie - Review & Giveaway! (CLOSED)

I know I'm not the only one looking to save a dollar here and there, especially lately. For those of us wanting to look trendy, chic and fabulous - yet are still looking for a one heck of a bargain, you are going to L.O.V.E eMommie!

eMommie is the #1 site for used maternity clothes - and don't let that shy you away. These clothes aren't like the used clothes you find a lot of times that are worn out, out of date and so-not-what-you-want-to-wear while trying to stay chic while pregnant. I had the pleasure of reviewing an ever so cute outfit - a pair of Motherhood Jeans and Cute Ooh Baby Top! You could hardly tell these items were ever worn. Want to know something even more awesome - the jeans were $14 and the top $9. Seriously, does it get any better than that?

eMommie carries pretty much everything - jeans, tops, swimwear, dresses, shorts, skirts, accessories, nursing wear and more all at fabulous prices. The only down fall (like most second hand places) is that the particular item you are loving, may not necessarily be your size. However you know while you're pregnant that (if you're anything like me) you'll be three sizes so you can pretty much buy whatever to a point! You honestly cannot go wrong with buying from eMommie, it's fabulous!

Farah the CEO of eMommie is truly amazing to work with, super nice and wants to make sure you find what you want! Read more about eMommie here. Also, if you live in the metro Richmond, Virginia area you can sell your clothing to eMommie. Read more about it here. I really can't say enough good things about eMommie, I have already been recommending them to friends and family and have been anxiously waiting to write this review.

The Little Environmentalist - Review & Giveaway! (CLOSED)

With spring here and spending time outdoors is a must in this home - we are enjoying the book Nature Discovery In My Backyard by The Little Environmentalist. This is the first book from the 3 book series from The Little Environmentalist. You can read my other two reviews here.

Natures Discovery, In My Backyard talks about being outdoors and the things you see, feel, smell and touch. On every page there are things to look for while outdoors, from flowers, birds, mammals, insects and more. You are able to teach your children about the outdoors and the beautiful creatures that are in it, while reading a fun book. The illustrations are actual pictures, for example of a girl sitting in the grass, but that's the entire two pages while opening it. It's different, but neat. This book was a hit here, especially with getting out doors so much more lately. I was actually trying to use the book while writing this review, and my kids took it away to go find butterflies (in the house.. ha ha!)

The Little Environmentalists three books are Nature Discover In My Backyard, Go Green With Me, & I'm Turning Green. You can get these books for $5 each if you purchase online at The Little Environmentalist for spring. I really like how these books come delivered in 100% recycled paper, not only does Rebecca (the author) write about being Green but she's living it through sending her books out in green!

Win It! One Momma In Flip Flops2 reader will win Nature Discovery In My Backyard to add to your children's collection. To Enter.

PrimoActiveWear - Review & Giveaway! (CLOSED)

Bring out the Primo in your child with Primo Activewear. Maybe you are asking yourself the same thing I did - well what is a Primo anyway? Well you can read what a primo is here, but basically if your kid is awesome, unique, fun, wild, has a huge heart, spontaneous, etc. then Primo is for you.

I had the pleasure of reviewing some of the Primo Activewear for my son and brothers. Not only was it a huge hit, my brothers actually wore the shirt several days in a row (sorry mom) because they liked them so much. My son's was a little big for him (I knew it would be) but he thinks he has to wear it every night to bed anyway because he's going to be the "First One Up Rocks." LOL! These shirts are made of 100% cotton so you do need to allow for shrinkage but I really didn't notice all that much. These shirts come in a variety of neat sayings - for the rocker, football, baseball, basketball, surfer, soccer, skateboarder and more - all with a little bit different saying. There isn't just apparel for kids either, find something special for mom, dad and the entire family from Primo Activewear. This is cute apparel that will bring out the winner in anyone, in a unique Primo way!

I love how Primo Activewear got started and how the inspiration came from the family and the children. You can read about it here. Not to mention, it's great to give business to a family owned shop and Tanya is fabulous to work with. She's super sweet and wants to make you happy with your purchase.

Buy It! Find something you like at Primo Activewear? Use coupon code flipflops2 at check out and get 15% off your purchase. Why not check them out to see what you and your family would like.

Piggy Paint - Review & Giveaway! (CLOSED)

My daughter is attracted to anything feminine! When I sit down to put my make up on, do my hair, anything she is right there with me - ready to be done up herself. I'm not exactly sure where you got the obsession to have her nails painted (probably from my younger sisters!) but if nail polish is in her sight, by golly she wants it on and she'll go around saying how pretty she is in it. I was extremely excited to find out about the product Piggy Paint and if you have girls that are anything like mine - your going to be excited too.

Piggy Paint carries non-toxic piggy paint nail polish. I feel safe putting this on my daughter as often as she wants knowing that it's not going to cause any harm to her. It's also great because it's odorless, hypoallergenic and water-based, but it still has great vibrant colors that look just like regular nail polish once applied. The only thing that I have found (and maybe this is just with my daughter) is that it comes off a lot easier than other polish. I also love the nail polish remover, for myself and my daughter. It's once again non-toxic, odorless (that's right, no more gaging because of that awful smell), hypoallergenic, natural products and no acetone. This stuff really works on Piggy Paint and regular nail polish. We love our natural as much Piggy Paint in this house!

Buy It! Ready to purchase some paint and nail polish remover (for yourself even?) from Piggy Paint? Use coupon code SPRINGY20L and get 20% off your purchase. Hurry though because this code expires May 15th, 2009.

Win It! One Momma In Flip Flops2 reader will win a $20 gift certificate to spend on Piggy Paint. To Enter.

*Send and e-mail to your friend(s) about this contest and CC me.
*Purchase from Piggy Paint before this contest is over and let me know.

Flowerz In Her Hair - Review & Giveaway! (CLOSED)

Flowerz In Her Hair
Okay, so the other day I was told I might have a bit of an obsession with putting little flowers in my daughters hair. I shrugged it off because seriously - there is nothing wrong with making your daughter look absolutely adorable with a cute little flower in her hair for an accessory. Flowerz In Her Hair pretty much specializes in a vast variety of products that include flowers in your daughters hair.

I was so thrilled with the products from
Flowerz In Her Hair. The variety of flowers and sizes are beyond a lot of sites I've seen. I really like how they fit and the quality. My absolute favorite thing we have from Flowerz In Her Hair is the super stretch headbands (which comes in many colors) that can easily have a clippie attached to them. They fit great - better than any headband we've ever had and it looks so cute. It's kind of like a nylon, and doesn't bother my daughters head. We also have an adorable little beanie that is very cute for summer, fits my 1.5 year old great and clipping the different flowers on it are easy for different looks. I have my daughter wears the flowers as a set with little pig tails, or just as one, on a headband, on the beanie, etc. Such a variety of things you can do. I just love the stuff from Flowerz In Her Hair.

When I was purchasing some of these products it literally (and I am being serious here) took me hours to decide what I wanted - there is so much I just fell in love with. There are tons of flowers but that's not all. There are headbands, butterfly clippies, fabric clippies, bows, clippie holders, pony tail holders, different types of clips depending on your childs age and much, much more.

Leg Huggers - Review & Giveaway! (CLOSED)

I'm a big fan of leg warmers - for my children that is. When my daughter was an infant there was never a day in the winter she went without wearing a pair and even this past winter, even though she was able to walk and keep her pants down, she still wore a pair everyday. I hate to be cold so I try to keep my children warm as well. I also found a new use for these - my son wears them on his arms to help keep the snow out when he's playing outside! I didn't know of many brands - but recently came across the site Leg Huggers!

The Leg Huggers we received are great - fit well and are super soft because they are made of 100% Bamboo fibers and eco-friendly. I learned a bit about the ever growing popularity of Bamboo from this review - Bamboo is breathable, wicks away moisture, UV protective, Odor Resistant, Antibacterial, and there are no chemicals or pesticides. Looks like I'm going to be looking into Bamboo a bit more. I liked being able to find a few different styles, but the down side there are only 15 and only for girls.

Leg Huggers are affordable and one of those things I can't imagine going without. I'm not one to think my children have to have everything either, but honestly I pretty much cringe when I see a baby without something covering it's legs when it's cold out. Maybe because I am cold and can feel a chill. =) Check out Leg Huggers - these make excellent baby shower gifts. Something unique that not everyone has heard about, but fall in love with once they have them.

Win It! One Momma In Flip Flops2 reader will win their choice of Leg Huggers. To Enter.

The Feeling Friends Book - Review & Giveaway! (CLOSED)

Meet the Feelings Friends by Karen Cuthrell and Illustrations by Fabricio Suarez is a children's book all about teaching your child about feelings and how to deal with them. This is the first book in a series of 13 for pre to beginner readers about feelings, by taking them to a magical island for feelings. The book goes through several different feelings (joy, anger, fear, happy, shy, etc) with fun characters, rhymes and more for your child to relate to.

For our family personally I tend to teach my children these feelings more through the virtues and that's how you should act when feeling a certain way. However I do see good in the book in explaining how you may feel and what these are each called. The book somewhat appeals to my children, but not quite as much as I thought it would.

From the book - "Every Feeling has its time and place. I must respect your feelings. You must respect my feelings!" A little bit from some of the characters - "My name is Slumpy the Sad Elephant and I am truly blue. I feel like I'm sad a lot of the time. Do you sometimes feel that way too?" "Joey the Joy Bird, that is me. I'll take you under my win. I hope that you will share my JOY, while listening to me sing."

Buy It! The Feeling Friends books can be purchased on Amazon.com and retail value for $12.99. You can get more information at http://www.meetthefeelingfriends.com/.

Being Dad - Review & Giveaway! (CLOSED)

My husband isn't going to be a first time new dad but he's definitely going to be a dad again in the next couple of months. My husband and I were excited to get the opportunity to watch the DVD - Being Dad, Inspiration and Information for the Dads To Be.

My husband and I laughed, cried and seriously related to so much of what this DVD had to talk about. It's definitely more for a man, as it's a "sneak peek into pregnancy from a guy's point of view." I liked how it can give guys, who seem to be a little more intimidated with expressing their feelings that everyone is thinking and feeling the same thing. It's mostly about one man who's expecting and how he's going around the country talking to different men about their experiences. They talk to 40 dads, 5 experts and you hear about the entire 9 months. They talk about finding out they were pregnant, telling people, relating to people, ultrasounds, morning sickness, tiredness, cravings, sex, the actual birth and much more. My husband thought it was really good. I thought it was good for the most part! We also gave this to my brother in law and sister who just found out they were pregnant. They also thought this was a good DVD! The sequel to this DVD is
Being Dad2, all about bringing baby home and parenting from a guys point of view. My husband has yet to watch this, but I thought it was pretty good!

Buy It! Being Dad and Being Dad2 can be purchased at Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com, or TheParentingSpace.com for a suggested retail price of $29.99. What a fun gift to give the dad to be since they never seem to get anything. You can also find other DVD's from the Seedsman Group.

Win It! I have one of the Being Dad DVD's to give away to one Momma In Flip Flops2 reader. To Enter.

Finish Quantum - Review & Giveaway! (CLOSED)

I kid you not, before a few weeks ago I was seriously considering no longer using my dishwasher. I have tried a lot of different things, what the manual said, my husband took it apart, only using hot water, vinegar, etc. and nothing seemed to get my dishes completely clean, or they would come out with specks of dirt. Not much worse than having to wash your dishes after you washed them. Yuck! The opportunity to try Finish® Quantum Dishwashing Detergent came along at the perfect time. Finish is the new name for the popular brand Electrasol.

"Finish® Quantum has a multi-Chamber system that is pre-measured and wrapper free. This technology separates 3 powerful active ingredients, releasing them when needed in the dishwashing cycle." How do these powerful ingredients do there charm? There's the "Powerball® with Jet-Dry® Gel for an amazing shine. Powermax™ Bleach removes stains like tea and coffee . Powerful Enzymes soften burnt-on food like lasagna." Now I will tell you I was hesitant, I didn't believe it worked the first time. I really told my husband it was a fluke, but load after load everything was coming clean - no more specks. What was going on? The top of my dishwasher didn't have crud on it anymore - what??? It was seriously working! I also use the TurboDry Jet Dry which also gives an extra shine to those dishes and leaves them spot free. I am not just recommending this to my readers - I have already recommended it to all my family and friends. This stuff really works! I know these come in squares as well, my dishwasher only has a circle opening and these fit for it as well.

Head on over to Finish to enter to win some great prizes while there sweep steaks is going on! A brand new Kitchen Aid dishwasher, jewelry, one year of Finish products and more. Check it out.

Buy It! 1 pack of 12ct Finish Quantum is $4.99 and is available as well as the TurboDry Jet Dry and retails nationwide. If you purchase, I would love to know if this works as well for you as it does for me.

Win It! Five lucky Momma In Flip Flops2 readers will win 2 package's of Finish Quantum and 2 bottles of TurboDry Jet Dry. To enter.
*Tell me why you need to win these products. A great story would be great to read!

ChiChi Mama Maternity - Review & Discount!

Finding basic maternity tee's doesn't seem to be a real problem - however finding a basic t-shirt that is casual yet super chic and doesn't look like a ten when put on... that does seem to pose as a problem (at least for me.) ChiChi Mama Maternity has a great Pure T and other products for the Mama to be.

When I was first told about the Pure T - honestly I wasn't sure what to think, except that I have basic t-shirts and I don't really like them. I was wrong when I received this in the mail. The Pure T if extremely comfortable, yet has that cute stylish appeal to it as well. Has a lower scoop neck line and kind of a rugged look to the edges of the shirt. It's nice too that it's pre shrunk (don't you hate when you buy an outfit, wash it and it doesn't fit anymore - ugh!) I wear, let it get a little stretched from being a big mama and then wash and dry it and it goes back to the original fit. It's glam! I have the pure t in white and if I didn't wear a cami underneath it, you could see right through it. This is not a problem for me because I always wear a cami under everything - but if you aren't regularly used to wearing one - it may! The pure-t-basic t-shirt comes in many colors for your choosing. I do honestly wish I had one in all the colors.

I also reviewed a pair of gaucho's - never been a big fan of these myself. However during pregnancy these are cute and do feel so very comfortable. That's just a few things that Chi Chi Mama Maternity has to offer. There is a wide selection of bottoms, tops, dresses, swim wear, undies, accessories, nursing wear and more. Many very stylish and ready to make you feel as glamorous as you should while carrying another human life.

Buy It! Chi Chi Mama Maternity would like to offer 10% off your order of a pure-t. At check out enter coupon code pureT to receive this discount. I'd love to know if you purchase one, or what you really like at Chi Chi Mama Maternity!
