You've heard it here before that games are a bit part of our family. Especially in the winter months we have regular game nights in our home, a great bonding time and a way to unwind before bed with a family activity. If you have younger ones though you know that they don't always get in on those games, it's usually as a partner with mom or dad or getting left out all together unless you have a game they can get into. My three year old does get in on the action quite a bit but was so excited when his My Very First Game - Gitta Giraffe arrived in the mail. He carried it around all day waiting to play. Already a fan of HABA USA I was anxious to check out the game myself, especially since it has been named a toy of the year from Parents magazine!
The game is fairly simple and definitely perfect for 2 year old's and up. Like a lot of HABA products, it's made with quality wooden pieces and they're the perfect size for little hands. The game encourages coordination, learning your colors and taking turns in a very basic way. My two and five year old played while I taught them how. You have two trees that are placed a bit apart, depending on the child's skill and the age you can place the tree's different distances apart. The trees have clumps on leaves that you want to get for the giraffe. The child rolls the dice, picks the appropriate color corresponding with the dice, places that color block on the Gitta Giraffe and then has to wheel the Girraffe to the other tree to fetch the leaves. If you make it without the block falling off you get the leaves. Then it's the next persons turn. Simple yet a lot of fun for the little ones. Brightly colored and perfect for your little ones first game it's no wonder it was named a toy of the year from Parents Magazine.
This is yet another great product from HABA and definitely a must add to your children's holiday list if you are looking for a game that helps build skills. This is the perfect time to connect with HABA on facebook and twitter, just in time for the holiday season.
