Hows your summer learning going so far? I will admit we've been so busy the stack of homework my son brought home the end of the school year has hardly been touched. However it's not too late to get your children learning over the summer and what better way to do it than books? We've been still trying to keep a reading routine, though extremely hardly, but with books that my kids want to explore makes things a lot easier. Silver Dolphin books is a wonderful company to check out, with a great selection of books for all ages, and interests.
My kids have been extremely interested in bugs this summer, I think because we have such a large yard and the finding is fun. During the day my children have been grabbing the Explore: Bugs book and their net and set off to see what they can find. It's been a lot of fun using the book as we find different bugs. The Explore: Bugs book allows you to read a little about the bug, see pictures, feel some and has flaps to lift for more information. It's very colorful and has been great for all three (ages 2-6) but definitely great for older children as well. I want to point out as well that this book has helped my middle one that was a bit scared of "creepy crawlies" as she would say. This is a great one if you're look for a book about bugs. Silver Dolphin has other Explore books as well if you're looking for something other than bugs.
All of my kids so far have been really into puzzles, they master them and want more. I wanted a puzzle that not only would be fun for my youngest but something my older ones would enjoy and learn from as well. The Fun Fact Puzzle: U.S.A. was perfect. We've been trying to learn more about the states, towns, etc and this was perfect. They can put the puzzle together and then read the different facts. All loved it, and if you have children that loves puzzles this is a wonderful add to your collection whether it's the USA that we received or one of the others.
